Why is so many people leaving when you get close to checkmate or take their queen?

The last few games I played I had won because people left when I took their queen or put them in a position were they could lose. Why is it? It will still affect your stats.

They are sensitive people , the feel the pain of their kings and queens death when u checkmate or kill their monarchs, u should be more sympathetic too and offer draw in such positions so that they don't leave

Its chess. When you lose a piece it shouldn't be the end of the world. If i lose my queen I don't give up. If I'm near check I'll accept defeat instead of leaving

I agree, I was having a bad game once and the opponent told me to quit! But you never know when you might turn things around, and the first time I beat the Fundy bot was after I blundered the Queen...

Probably because they think the game's already over

Yeah. If i take your queen you can get it back with a pawn.

you can blunder after you live.
you can't live after you blunder.

There should be a ‘I throw the board and pieces upside down through the room’ button.

I usually see new players do this. or people who bring their queen out early

Why is so many people don't leave when I get close to checkmate or take their queen the games pretty much over why do they drag it out.  Last few games I played clearly winning and they just keep on  playing its obvious they are going to lose why don't they start a new game so they can get a win and even out the stats. smh

They shouldn't "leave" if their queen gets taken or if you're close to checkmate. I think in their mind they think they could turn the game around. I guess the only thing to do is for you to find the quickest way to end the game

Report them and move on. No need to lose precious mental energy because of sore losers.

when one is a constant state of losing like me  -- you just want to play the middle game to practice  cause you all ready know your going to lose- starting a new game just get you to practice your opening not middle game -- so when you blunder and lose your queen - you try to right the ship with your two bishops or knights -- it almost always doesn't work but then we are here to play chess  and play the game for the remaining minutes till checkmate or the clock runs out - losing as many games as do - after move 13 it's almost a certainty i am going to lose -- so i keep playing with lost queen- trying those moves   from move 13 to usually  move 30 before the final move comes in   and kills me

thats my slant on the topic

I was parodying the OP as there is no should or shouldn't you get to make your moves I get to make mine and we both get to quit whenever we want for any reason or no reason at all.  If i hang a clean piece in the opening I'm probably resigning unless I'm playing someone much lower rated.  I don't care if someone quits I don't care if they play on with a lone king vs 5 queens i make my moves they make theirs and I don't decide what they need to do.

Why are you complaining? These are free wins for you. There are no compensation points for keeping the fight over a lost game.

cause they are wimps

Avatar of exceptionalfork

Because they're poor sports.

They should just resign or play the rest of the game out, but for some reason they want to make you wait for their time to run out or for the game to be abandoned.

What??? It's fine that they feel the pain of a blunder, but they shouldn't take it out on their opponents.

Offer a draw??? If people just offer draws every time their opponent blunders they would never win. That's just stupid.
