Why is there even a North Korean flag option?

I realize North Korea is a country, but North Koreans do not have the freedom to go onto the free web, so why would there be any North Korean affiliated chess players on this site... I may be wrong, but I haven't seen a single genuine North Korean on this website.

Some people use the flag of their origin, not their current location.

NationalPatzer

Why would they be proud of that in the first place?

EscherehcsE

That North Korean guy that just escaped, maybe he'll sign up here...

Proud to have escaped a country that's physically, intellectually, and spiritually a death sentence?

I would be.

Your argument makes no sense. Having a Nazi flag in my front yard as a Jewish man doesn't say anything about how I'm proud to have survived death camps. I would simply be mistaken as a Nazi-supporter. The same applies.

LM_player
I agree. There is not one way I could think of using the NK flag.
LM_player
If someone were to use the flag, he PROBABLY isn't North Korean anyway.

"Nazi" is not a country.

"North Korea" is not an ideology.

In any case, it makes sense to include the flag for completeness sake if nothing else. If only trolls use it, all the better to help us identify trolls.

What NK has is the free web. What you have is what the advertisers want you to see. Peace!

The developers just wanted to add all the flags: they didn't care if one particular flag wouldn't be used. And to be honest, it's not really that important.
