Just my opinion...
i thinks its because many players view him as "boring". He isnt exciting like Tal, Kasparov, or Karpov. Krammnik is more modern. Alekhine is considered "exciting" because of his tactics. The modern average player views themselves as a tactical player because its exciting, whereas, Botvinniks universal style isnt as exciting.
