Well, there's a much smaller player pool (clearly) than in standard chess: have you had a look at what time controls are being offered from other people's challenges? When Chess.com retires V2 (whenever that is), it may get some more traction too.

With no increment? Normally that's pretty quick, as it's one of the most common blitz controls; I've never had to wait more than 30 seconds for a game, but admittedly, I don't play at that time control much. How long do you have to wait?

If I am trying to play unrated I usually have to wait a while to be paired, but rated it's usually very fast.
There should be plenty of players around your rating range assuming you kept the default and didn't choose an unusual rating range for opponents
