still.. shorter versions help u to predict the moves much faster which helps in calculations while playing real chess.
Why not 30 sec and 10 sec bullets?

Why not playing 0 seconds chess?
It works that you make all the premoves before the game starts, so you need to develop huge skills to predict what your opponent will do.
This could work by allowing you a few different premoves, kinda like the conditional moves in online chess. This way you just push the button and the whole game is played out istantly, without losing all that time by thinking each single move like a geek.

Why not 5 second chess or 1 second chess?
They had to draw the line somewhere. Seems they drew the line at 1 minute. And actually with a little over 1 second per move it's enough time to see and react to your opponent's move. In a 30 second game you woudln't even have time to do that, the winner would often be the person whose mouse hand is faster.
As a chess player I think, 1-1 minutes, or less time chess is already NOT CHESS! You just have to move anything, and you win if you are the faster.
You cant learn anything from that.

It is anyway, have you not played or watched a game of 1:0?
I've played 1/0 plenty of times. If all you do is premove you'll get trashed pretty quick, but I can't imagine being able to punish someone's bad moves if I only had 30 seconds for an entire game.
OTB this may be possible, because people will start moving before the clock is pressed, and sometimes you can make multiples moves (obviously non-premoves) in 1 second.

A guy that is 2,000 should not be talking about Chess for normal poeple he is to many levels up to remember what it was like being normal.
Do you mean me?
I remember pretty well actually. As I very slowly (very slowly due to too much blitz as a matter of fact) got better I actually made it a point to remember in case I wanted to teach someone chess...
As it turns out this wasn't very useful, teaching experience trumps everything because individuals are unique. But I even kept chess journal entries about how I thought about my moves and how I felt about games and the new things I learned

I play 30sec OTB sometimes (often with alcohol involved). It usually degenerates into an argument over which square a piece is on. And you've got to feel sorry for the poor clock.

+1 :D

Not 10s/1s, that's too easy, one move per second with a ten second safety net. To make it more interesting, remove the safety net, something like 2s/1s
I've also had some ideas about variants of bullet where what happens on the board affects the clock. Perhaps something like this:
Start with 1/0
1 bonus second awarded for a check
2 bonus seconds for a discovered check
5 bonus seconds for en passant capture
10 bonus seconds for promoting a pawn
15 bonus seconds for underpromoting a pawn
You can make it up really as you like

Hillarious! :)
Maybe they should also give an option to play Sudden Death (with black 4 minutes and gaining points if drawn).

yes sudden death is a nice option with varying time options...

+ you would have about 10 seconds at the beginning to set all those moves up! :D
It should be more fun to play much shorter versions of chess.
