I don't think they are totally wrong. This is the stage when you build your career. After passing higher secondary, you will get ample of time in College to pursue chess.

How does learning about how plants go through photosynthesis helps pay bills as well? Just because it doesn’t help with bills it helps other things in life that can give hints on peoples mental health etc.

I never disagreed with that lol. But my point is that a person who went to school is more likely to have a better life than a person who played chess all day (unless you are Magnus Carlsen). Academics comes first.

Yes i fully agree education comes first as you need adulation first to be good at chess but also chess isn’t completely “useless” to learn for your future.

kid no one asked for your personal life. But just a piece of advice, I think things will go SO MUCH better for you the minute you change that profile picture. For your sake.

I think with majority of parents they treat playing chess as a hobby and unless the passion is showing your a budding magnus carlsen then they see there child's education leading to a easier way to earn a living. I recall our chess club had a very promising youngster Simon Fowler ... British U12, U14, U16 champion, soon as he left school with his A levels he went to college and became an accountant!!

Academics should come first. Also, unless you're AT LEAST master level, don't even think about turning it into a living.
