So many scandi players!!!

Recently, I have been playing SO MANY SCANDINAVIAN DEFENSE PLAYERS.

I mean, im not that angry; I have a very good record against the scandi, but I am very confused why there is so many. Is anyone else facing this, and does anyone know why? Did someone make a video on the scandi, popularizing it at the beginner level? Im just confused.

IDK why

Probably because Levy proclaimed it to be one of the most uncomplicated replies to 1.e4 for Black to learn

Maybe because it's simple? Most of your opponents play 2 scandi moves and a random check with Qe5+ after that.

tired of losing to e5 and c5 forcing them to play d5 which is not well known for both the players

It's just another fad. After a bunch of people start playing better players and getting kicked good and hard, they'll drop it and in a year or so you won't see so much of it any more. It's the lazy player's solution for needing to study openings. I know, because in the 1980s I used to play it in tournaments when I was too lazy to bother studying. It worked for a while and then not so much.

It's just such an easy defense to learn, I've been using it for a long time, not because it is the best, but because I barely need to study how to use it. But recently I've been learning the Caro-Kann which is just so much better. Mieses-Kotrč variation is decently good because it develops the queen on turn 3. However, most people don't even know how to reply to the closed variation.

I am a Scandi player and I don’t consider the opening easy at all. Lost my queen a 1000 times.

When we say easy, we mean easy to learn, when compared to something like French or Caro-Kann. Those openings are pretty hard ones to learn.

scandi is best to me

I bought a cheap chessable course about the scandi so I felt obligated to play it for a few years to get my 3 pounds worth.
