Everyone started gushing over "girls shouldn't play chess
All girls were offended about the situation

It's not that it's rare, it's that it's drastic statistical difference between men and women playing chess.

Plus most men on this site have never seen a woman before.

Thinking that girls playing chess is rare is completely different from people thinking they shouldn't play. The former is a very reasonable view depending on the interpretation of rare, which doesn't necessarily have positive or negative connotations.

The latter is not really reasonable, but there is a lot of pretty backward behavior in general toward many groups of people, not just girls.

How about you just concentrate on improving your chess for now before you start either (a) posting threads telling people how to be the next Bobby Fischer or (b) complaining about how either you, or girl chess players generally, get treated?
