I used to play to expert level back in the day...anyway, nowadays I have plummeted down the ratings due to illness among other things
I'm trying to get my rating to a decent level again but I find my opening knowledge seems to be intact and I play well in the opening, so well infact I very often find myself winning material (I'm talking pieces not pawns...but often both!)...then suddenly I find I am underdeveloped and have a horrible game (the players turn into aggressive attacking demons!) even though I am a full piece and a few pawns up!
How do I resist the temptation to win whole pieces in the opening at the cost of my development?
Its not easy!
