Wishing a player ''GOOD LUCK'' is banned

To SCHMIDT GM -you say "To all you well wishes out there some great news...you are now being asked not to participate in the crude habit of wishing other players ''good luck''.
Where do you get this? "Banned" by whom?

"May the force be with you" sounds better.
"Live long and prosper" sounds okay too.
"May the good Lord show you the way"....too much?
okay, GOOD LUCK with this thread.

Well, I think [prejudiced hate speech against cheaters removed - MOD]
Wow the mod has his/her hands full with this one. No snoozing to night for the mod.

Why should it matter? When people say good luck they generally have good intentions and genuinely wish for a good game (where you or your opponnent may get lucky).
In my chess club (auckland chess centre, new zealand) it is a requirement at the beginning of the game to shake hands. This could also be well intentioned, or could be used as an attempt to physicaly hurt me, pysche me out, knock over pieces etc...
There will always be bad apples out there, but that doesn't mean we should take away things that everyone else loves.
If I called for a ban for the use of cars, because I was injured by a car/ vechicle or other means...should we then ban cars? What about the people who need to drive to work? Who drive as a job? It is not our choice to protect the few at the sacrifice of many

Saying good luck to an opponent might seem very obnoxious and why would you be wishing good luck to someone in a two person game where one wins? Is it because you hope they win?

OP, you complained about feeling the "need to be noticed" on the part of people saying "good luck." Why did you feel the need to be noticed for posting this incredibly lame whine?

I have found that whiners like children need attention.
To all you well wishes out there some great news...you are now being asked not to particapate in the crude habit of wishing other players ''good luck''.Not only is it a put down to players, suggesting that they can`t win without it but also most players wishing a player ''good luck'' are really hoping they lose and infact can`t wait to crush them when they play.If you consider yourself to be genuine in wishing ''good luck'' then why do you feel you need to be noticed or loved?
Remember chess is not poker.

Those on the autism spectrum often have difficulty recognizing social cues.
Saying "good luck" is just an empty pleasantry...
but having an opponent who angsts about such things is good luck for me, they won't be using all of their mental faculties on considering their moves!
