World Chess Championship Format Idea

Here's my suggestion.

Let's play with the old Chaturanga rules.

1. Queen (Vizier) moves 1 square diagonally.

2. Bishop (Elephant) moves 2 squares diagonally.

3. No pawn promotion.

They already exist in Chinese chess!

Backgammon and Chinese chess (or Chaturanga etc) should not be used to decide World Chess Championship...

Why not?

A triathlon is a real thing. (I didn't invent it). Running, swimming, biking.

There are separate World Championships in all these sports. The cycling world champion is not decided by triathlon, so why should chess?

A good question deserves a good answer.

Ronda Rousey - Olympic Judo Bronze Medalist

Sara McMann - Olympic Wrestling Silver Medalist

They never made a dollar in those separate sports.

Holly Holm - Boxing Champion.

They all made beaucoup bucks in the UFC, MMA.

I think the title of Gamester of Triskelion (my naming) will be more prestigious, more popular, and makes more money than World Chess Champion.

Western chess is . . . well Western.

Chinese chess is Chinese.

Both chess came from India.

Backgammon comes from Senet, Egypt.

It is essentially an Intercontinental Title, to steal from WWE.

You can sell this thing on 4 Continents.

Works great in Black History Month in North America.

I an see a contender against The Gamesters of Triskelion.

The Chinese Triad.

Go

Chinese Chess

Mahjong

Edit:

That is actually a very good idea.

That would be a very prestigious Title.

The contestants in the tournament will play Go and Chinese chess.

4 players who wins or draws will contest it in Mahjong.

The 4 semi-finalists will contest it in Mahjong.

And Russia will put in one

Chess-boxing, already exists.

Drinking Vodka.

Last man standing wins.

Contested by weight classes.

Hmm

This one might not be the most prestigious, but this one will probably get the most ratings.

The time control should be faster, like 90|30.
That would avoid the stupid tiebreakers.
Drawing 12 classical games to win rapid tiebreakers defies the whole idea of a classical World Championship.

I never though of that. I think it's a great idea.

I think they should play Chess 960 in that same time control for tie breaks. It makes no sense to use Rapid games to decide a Classical championship or Blitz games to decide Rapid championship.

I think your idea is very interesting.
