would you watch blitz on TV?

I'd watch chess on tv with any type of time controls.
I think blitz could work if it was pre-recorded, and have the analysis done ahead of time and slipped in between moves. Actually, this could be done with long play too. Cut out the long wait, but mention the elapsed time.

And even more of the population would snooze through slow chess. Blitz would be more appealing...

Nah, I would prefer to watch it on the Internet where you could watch it on-demand, without commercials, and with easy access to pause, rewind, and fast-forward.

i would enjoy blitz on tv, if there were top players playing blitz it would be useful for me to watch and interesting to someone who does not know much about chess.
this got me thinking. it would be nice if on this sites live chess you could save your games and post them in the forums, not just the moves but the time between the moves so people can see how long it took you to figure out a move and to feel the pace of the game.

I would not like to see it, good analysis would not come with it, and it would be a bit slow. Furthermore, many chess games have boring regular lines. I would much rather just look at a PGN viewer after the game, chess is one of few things that doesn't gain any value from being played live.
Although who knows? People have turned boredom into suspense before, look at the popularity of golf on TV!

There used to be televised chess in the UK in the mid to late 70s (I think). Possibly a 1 hour programme between decent chess players with comments from a UK master. Very illuminating, my non chess playing parents both enjoyed it. It was my main coaching tool.
I think there were 2 series before it bit the dust.

reality tv style. where everyone has to live with each other. hottubs, chess. stupid pepsi challenge w/ nerf, then more chess.
think you could get some dramatic stuff with the clock slamming. mtv-style camera work where they rotate the board super fast... dramatic macro shots of pawns, nervous twitches. + commentary from a couple crack addicts--could totally fly.

in 93? the kasparov - short world title match, every game was shown live on uk tv (ch4), jon speelman did the analysis with danny king and i think ray keene? it was AWESOME! chess is good on tv....

I'd feel too guilty or bored with watching something that I could easily be doing myself. As opposed to basketball or football, I'm a halfway decent chess player, and so I'd feel like a shut-in watching chess on tv...
But championship matches probably, dependning on the commentary and the editing job that was done. No blitz for me, though.
