You are NOT entitled to a rematch

I agree, however not being entitled to a rematch albeit politically correct may not be included within the friendly confines, almost inspiring the political asperation this, "common sense," of YOURS complains about. Where the rules of chess include a complete move is not completed until both black and white play. In all of our competition that includes tournament chess, we are entitled to a rematch of sorts. The competition includes two games, one as white, and one as black. Perhaps, every match play should include both.

That's a great point about playing white vs. black - and I think playing in person it feels a bit different. I should have specified that I was referring to some people who have stated that it's impolite to decline a rematch. Thanks for pointing that out!

If you feel entitled to a rematch, remember that chess has THREE STAGES: opening, middlegame, and endgame, so treat each stage like it’s own game! 😁

Haha that's right!! 3 matches in one!

Yeah sure go ahead please include all things apropos. Why not throw the three aspects of the game of chess; material, speed, position.
That would make it 6 times less relevant to the point.
Really; opening, middle, end, as well as the three aspects of chess; material, tiempo, position, apropos nothing!

you can send a rematch, but the opponent has to agree
I believe most respondents summitting, "amicus curiae" understand the rule however, only recently are we discovering because it lacks the Absolution of Natural Law does one ethically walk away from the one-time challenge of playing defense for a change. As it has come to my attention some members only play on chess.com as white!
One can hardly believe its the same as choosing the speed control. Which to me are of two completely different issues, may be as different as, (Black and White).

Hey if you're scared of losing after you just won that's totally fine. Quite understandable in fact, but there is no need to come here and try to justify your fear by stating the obvious. Yes obviously no one is entitled to a rematch, otherwise chess.com would make it mandatory.
However, it is the class act move. If you care for a fair game and sportsmanship and if your opponent asks for a rematch after you win with white it's the gentlemanly thing to do. If you lose then it's whatever you want. If you win with black it's debatable. But if you win with white, while it's not mandatory it's a no brainer to accept. But if it's going to hurt your ego by possibly losing to someone with a similar elo rating then by all means go and run. Of course there are a few exceptions if you have to leave or something like that. And obviously I am talking about shorter time formats, obviously if you just played a half hour long game that's a different story.
Now I personally don't care if people give rematches or not, but I don't get why most people are scared of giving rematches. It's so fun playing against the same person. Sometimes it's a theme match with certain openings. Not to mention the thrill of adopting or trying to adopt someone or tilting really hard trying to avoid being adopted.
But I do think you don't have to accept the offer immediately as soon as it pops up. a 30 sec window to 1 min is acceptable if you want to get some coffee or change the music, etc But if the person demands a rematch then I find it fun to deny because as you pointed out, no one is entitled to it.
If you lose a game, you lost fair and square. No exceptions. Respect your opponent when they beat you. You are not entitled to a rematch. If you feel entitled to a rematch, check your privilege.
