Ads covering important links?

Suddenly there are appearing 3 ads on most pages instead of 2.  While I have no trouble with ads, I do have a problem with them covering up varous links.

I've posted here an example, on this very page.  On Vote Chess pages, it covers up half of the control panel thing for the chess game.  In group pages, it covers up all the navigation links.  Etc etc.  It's been making it more difficult to navigate Chess.com.  Is it something on my end?  If so, what in the world could it be?  I use Google Chrome as my browser and never noticed a problem until this morning.

Thanks,

Evie

It's their way of making you cough up Tongue Out.

I found the "Hide these Ads" button, however it claims to only work for like 24 hours?  Erf.

NekoEvie- those ads don't look like they're from the site. Can you please check your plugins or extensions and make sure you don't have anything installed there?

Okay, maybe it isn't their way of making you cough up; it's someone else's way of making you cough up Wink.

They seem to crop up with other sites too, which isn't a good sign.  This is rather agrivating as I remember leaving chess.com 3 years ago because of getting a virus from the site.  Don't tell me this is happening again...

If you're getting them on other sites too, it's probably adware.

I noticed it first on here.

This isn't something from our site :( If you zoom in, it says they are by "Notificatoin"

Yes, it was from someone else.  Since my last post I managed to find how to remove "extensions" from Chrome.

So, this has gone away.  I'm trying to figure out whether it was first from here that I saw them or whether I saw them on some other site first.  This might be something to look out for in regards to the site then?

Evie ... a week or two ago, in another thread on here, a member had a virus that they strongly suspected had been carried via an ad. So, upgrading to even basic membership does have the additional benefit of providing some virus protection.
