If you had to manually select it, then yeah. You can choose to automatically promote to a queen in your settings.

Hi there,
Recently I played a game in which I made my last move at precisely 0.1 seconds left to play. My move should have checkmated my opponent, but instead it granted victory to him.
The move in question was a pawn promotion to queen. Does time taken to select the piece to promote to count towards your time? If so, this might explain it.
