Bye in the last round

If you get a bye in the last round of the tournament you should be able to

leave and start other games

Do you get the point for that last round bye if you leave before completed?

Strangely, I was recently in a tournament where, beginning with Round #2 through Round #5, there were 3 players, but only 2 out of the 3 would play, with the 3rd having a bye ... so, since the 2 players are chosen randomly (I guess), 1 of the players has had the last 2 rounds off while another 1 has played in every single round.  There are only 2 left for Round #6 ... hopefully it'll end soon.

If that made no sense to you, the reader, imagine what it has done to the players!

I was refering to live rapid tourneys and it was an honest question I still don't know because that one point can make the difference of winner
