I came here because I have the same issue. Apparently, it has been asked before; see for example "Unable to post images in forums" in "Help & support" (this forum) in March 2025.
If would be helpful if, either the image upload feature was disabled until the limitations no longer apply or to give the user feedback on why the image can't be uploaded. (The message "external link removed from the post" is not accurate as feedback.) The current UX is frustrating.
