Try using an image thats 100 x 100 pixels and use png format.
Changing Group Image
Load the picture into Paint (you'll find it under Accessories on your PC).
Image -> Resize. 10% (or whatever)
Image -> Attributes
until width and height are suitable.
(Incidentally, if you were starting from a screenshot, this discussion might shed some light on the process.)
You got it. Managed to finally upload the image of the book cover. Took my attention right away from the questions it did....
I'm having the same problem too with a new group I just made. I wanted one image in, tried everything you guys mentioned, but it still didn't work. I got the one image up now but it's too plain. Gotta see if I can work out the kinks to get the main one up.

EDIT: Kohai, I tried putting them in as PNG but only one worked
LOL of course art
I've been working on this for 3 hours and it's not updating. I put in one pic and it gives me the picture I had as the main logo two hours ago. It's really disheartening and such a time waster

That usually means it's unhappy with some (unspecified) aspect of the image.
Which filetypes have you tried? Both GIFs and JPGs work for me - as well as PNGs.
Presumably there are no SPACES in the filename?
Are you able to insert the image into a forum post (this one, for instance)?
Try clearing browser cache if you're still seeing the one from a few hours ago, your browser cache may be remembering it.

Hi
I am having a real problem trying to change the image on either the page Group Home or Public Group Profile. I asked support for help with this and was told:
"Please try hitting CONTROL+R and/or CONTROL+F5 on the screen where the new image is supposed to be. (Clearing browser cache may also help) The old image is being remembered by your web browser and refreshing the page should do it."
I am very grateful for this advice but unfortunately it has not worked. I can't seem to either change the Image (top left) or remove it and start again.
Help!
