chess.com changed my password

A couple days ago chess.com changed my password from what it was to something different and I was never notified prior to it happening. My account username is BiggestSchnoz and I created that account back in 2012. I don’t use the email I used for that account and I don’t even remember what the email even was off hand.

Is it possible for an admin of this site to just change the BiggestSchnoz email to my gmail which is the one for this account and then delete this (BiggestSchnoz77) account? Otherwise can an admin tell me what to do? Perhaps message me a temporary password and once I’m back in my BiggestSchnoz account, delete this one? I don’t want to lose my premium subscription or my progress. Thanks for any help.

You'll need to contact support directly, though if you don't have access to the old email, they may not be able to verify it belongs to you

You'll need to open a ticket with support:

I had this exact issue. I eventually got into my old aol account. I had troubles with getting a new password even with the old email. They eventually helped me with a temporary password sent to my original email.

However, before I got my old email back I had sent a help ticket in to support with my current email not related to my chess.com account. I was sure I was not going to be able to recover my original email so I was begging for help. I never got a response from chess.com. Until today!

After I recovered my old email and regained access to my chess.com account chess.com emailed me about one of my original complaints. I wrote chess.com support after a few attempts to talk about my password this message. On Tue, Feb 7, 2023 at 10:24 PM UTC "

"Chess.com changed my password and now I can not get into my account. How can I cancel my Diamond Membership if I can not get help to gain access to my chess.com account?"

They finally responded to this after I got my account back also working with support to do so chess.com sent me this.

Hi !!
I´m and I am with the Support Team. 😃

I would like to apologize for the delay in my response.
This is due to unexpected traffic growth. I can assure you that our teams are on it and making sure that our users don't face such problems again even after getting a high volume of traffic in the future.

You can read more about it here:
I'm sorry to hear you have this issue with your account. The good news is that there´s a way to get this resolved and is to: authenticate your account.

Let me know, is this the account you´re trying to get back?

If so, please read below. If not hand me on your response the right username and correct email address you used.

In order to authenticate your account (to make sure I'm giving the right info to the account holder), I will need one of the following:•

Can you please go to and tell me the numbers on your screen?

You can also verify your account by a receipt:
1. If you paid by Google Pay, you will have a GPA number as a reference number for your purchase.
Your GPA # can be found in either the email receipt from Google (not PayPal) or by logging into.
When you make a purchase on Google Play, you should receive a confirmation message with your order information in the email address associated with the Google Account you used to make the purchase. If you can't find the email, you can always look it up on your Google Play wallet.
  1. With the email address that you used to make the purchase, sign in to
  2. .On the left menu, select Subscriptions and services
  3. On the “Other purchase activity” card, select View purchases
  4. Select the “Google Play” (or "Android Market") registration transaction
  5. Look for Chess.com
  6. You will see your Transaction ID at the bottom right corner of the page
What does a Google Play Transaction ID Look Like? The Transaction ID / Order number will start with GPA and look like this: GPA.1324-5678-9

2. If you paid by credit or debit card, please give us the last 4 of the card used or provide the payment confirmation number.

:• If you are able to log into the email address that is on file you can send me an email from there letting me know that you were able to log on.

I hope you see this as a sign of our commitment to our members' safety.

Wanna let you know that gonna be handling your case to get this solve as soon as possible.
I'll be waiting for your response!

I edited out links provided incase they are not legit. I also censored the support members name. long story short ether I just got the best scam email ever created or there is some hope for you to regain your account but it might take a long time.

I had older tickets out just asking about my password and explaining my old email was not a thing anymore. I still have not heard anything from those help tickets. I only got a response to the ticket that I mentioned canceling my diamond membership. It still took 13 days to get a response about the diamond and I resolved this issue a few days ago with help tickets sent by my old email and that was a whole other long story that took days ether way.

Hang in there I think you can get your old account back even without the original email. Chess.com is just running a bit crazy showing not just in the servers but in support as well.
