If you think you NEVER lose connection to any site on the internet.  You dont know how it works.

I'm with magarzo on this. I'm on chess.com every day, and sometimes for hours. especially lately *because* of COVID-19. very very few issues until today. the behavior I'm seeing seems less latency related and more software bug related or possibly hardware related. Or both. It's definitely something on the chess.com end.

Live server crashed this morning, so today there is a problem. Staff is working on it.

Chess.com is the worst site. They don't want to upgrade their servers, so you end up losing the connection due to CHESS.COM, not due to your internet.

Every time certain amount of players connect at the same time, you end up having terrible connection, and the worst is chess.com KNOWS when a game is lost on their behalf due to server errors, but they STILL DEDUCT YOUR POINTS for losing those games.

Worst chess site in  the world.

I have lost my last 3 games in winning positions by "having disconnected" which means one side still maintained connection according to chess.com server. This is a server bug...if it was just due to heavy traffic it would abort the game.

Fixed, looks like they just deleted all games from the time period from the database.

This particular issue is caused by a Live server issue. General disconnects are more often caused by something between you and the live server or something client side; when it happens, there are tens of thousands running games at a time; if it really was a server issue, everyone would be having issues, just like the current issue. That is not normally the case.

I've also been curious about this. Used to be I played FICS/Babas and when connection was lost there was maybe a 50-50 chance it was me. So I'd only lose 50% (ish) of the games. On Chess.com it's much closer to 100%. Hints at (maybe) an algorithm that chooses one connection over another and places the loss on that one? For instance, if two connections are sketchy but mine (and maybe yours) are the worse of the two BUT NOT BY MUCH, chess.com always goes with the worse connection regardless?

Something like this must be going on. Almost every time (maybe 90%) I lose a game because of this my other connections are pristine Streaming music on YouTube for instance. Almost never any interruptions but somehow chess.com doesn't like my connection?  Come on.

Doing other things, like streaming music or other data intensive activity can cause the connection to have more resends than normal. Also, the problem could be somewhere between you and the site Live server, so other things might work without issue (though caching for music/videos wouldn't see a an issue unless there was a major blip).

Some things can be done to minimize issues.
