Coloured bars

Can someone please explain to me what the red/green bars beside players' names mean while a game is in progress? I have tried to find out by clicking on various links on this website, but without success.

I think it shows how strong/weak the computer connection is. If I'm thinking of the same bars that your asking about

Thank you, I find that very interesting - and also surprising because my bar is nearly always on red, but I thought my connection was fairly fast (I just did a check on a speed test website: apparently my download speed is 13.27mb/s, while my upload speed is 1.48mb/s).

Also Maplo, its best to make sure your not downloading or streaming music, video downloading programs etc while playing live chess.

That may improve your speed
