I'm playing on my phone with a good connection, and part way into the game, it says I'm disconnected, then puts these unfair fairplay warnings in my face like I violated some rule. This is ridiculous. It's happened before, and here we go again.
Disconnecting and Fairplay policy

The Fair play policy is a serious problem and needs to immediately be gotten rid of. It is ruining this app and I would have already left this app if I could find another one to play chess on. I don't understand its purpose at all. Currently my ELO rating for 5 min blitz chess is sitting around 650. This is not an accurate reflection of my skill at all. I play in the 980 range. The problem is I keep losing internet connection which causes me to lose games and points (which is fine) but then I get hit with the fair play policy and have to wait 5 min between games to play ppl until I am removed from the fair play policy list. This part is not fine. This is ridiculous. Why am I being punished and forced to wait to play ppl do to bad internet connection!!??? I don't understand what this policy aims to protect. Why would anyone intentionally want to lose internet. Its an automatic win for your opponent. At any rate, the fair play policy is infuriating and needs to be removed completely. There is no way from the server side to differentiate between an intentional disconnect and an unintentional disconnect. I have a life. I play chess on the go. Sometimes I have good service. Sometimes I don't. Currently I have a 650 ELO rating. To get that back to my rightful level of 980 under the fair play policy which makes you wait 5 min between games will take forever. Actually it will take 27.5 hours to be exact. Waiting 5 min between games means 12 games per hour. You can only go up at the most 12 pts for beating your opponent. Therefore at that rate to raise my score 330 pts to 980 assuming I get 12 pts for winning (sometimes less) will take 27.5 hours to do or before I actually get a good game.

It is really not possible for the site to differentiate between people that disconnect on purpose and those that are impacted by connection issues.
It is those that do it on purpose that necessitate the policy and unfortunately some people with connection issues, like you, also get impacted.

@Martin_Stahl My point exactly so get rid of having to wait 5 min between games if u disconnect often. What advantage is there to purposefully disconnect? U lose if u do. All this app is doing is pissing ppl off. This app used to be awesome!!! If I had good internet connection, I would play ppl back to back to back. I could in no time at all raise or lower my ELO rating at will assuming I won or lost. I could like 8 to 10 games in...in like 30 min. It was awesome. Now I have to wait FOREVER for one game with a sorry player. I am telling you now, I have been actively looking for a new chess app to play on. U guys are lucky in that you all appear to be the best at the moment. But if you do not remove the 5 min wait in between games b.s. I and I'm sure others will leave. I WANT TO PLAY CHESS. I LIKE PLAYING LOTS OF GAMES. I DO NOT WANT TO WAIT 5 MIN BETWEEN GAMES. IF I HAVE TO WAIT IT SHOULD BECAUSE OF BAD INTERNET AND NOTHING ELSE.

There is no advantage but people that are doing it on purpose are doing it to spite their opponent, when they are already losing, and the policy was put in place to try and stop people from doing it or at least minimize how many people they could do it against.
If you are having that many problems with disconnects on the app, you might want to put in a ticket. Though, the quality of the connection is likely the biggest culprit and the app itself may not be impacting it much.

This policy has also been in effect for quite a while. I'm sure the site has lost some players from it but I don't see them changing the policy much either.

@Martin_Stahl do you work for this app or are you a fellow user like myself? I'm asking because I really want to put this complaint through the proper channels. As you just acknowledged, there is 0 advantage to intentionally disconnect. It is annoying at best (though truthfully I cant even see why because a win is a win). Nevertheless, disconnecting gives 0 advantage to the player. Yet this 5 min policy ruins the experience of this app. Ruins it.

If you would like, you can open a support ticket and categorize it as Feedback/Suggestion.

The thing is, the process is preventing people that disconnect a lot, to make their opponent's waste time, from impacting as many people. If you get rid of the delay, then more games will have these players disconnecting.
The process is to protect other players from serial disconnectors. This can catch people with poorer connections but getting rid of it completely isn't going to help the situation, except in cases like yours, but would cause more problems with other players.

@Martin_Stahl this is a mute point clearly. I guess there are just two schools of thought on this. Who cares if you were to play constant disconnectors!!???? That means a win every time. ppl dont like to win? u set up a time to play this app....5 min, 10min, etc.....so how are you wasting any more time if someone disconnects. This makes no sense and its infuriating.

a win is a win. it would just improve your elo rating.. and how many ppl are really bn stopped by this policy. I know it pisses off more ppl than it protects. I personally could careless if I played disconnectors. They would disconnect, Id get my win and move on to the next person. That person disconnects, I get my win and move on to the next person. my elo rating goes up again. eventually and not very long. I am going to have an actual game. with a really good player too since during all these disconnects my ranking has improved. then that player would beat me and now i kno ok that is my ceiling. but because of this stupid fair play policy....that im not violating. iwill nvr get to my ceiling cuz at this rate it will take me 28 hours of continuous play(no sleep nothing) just to get bak to 980....let alone hit my ceiling which would be in the low 1000s mayb 1100 max. My only option is to create a new account just so I can have back to back games again. Thanks alot fair play policy

So, you complain about waiting for five minutes but you would be ok with someone playing with you, disconnecting and making you wait five minutes?
Most people want to move on to another game when one is done and serial disconnectors prevent that. You just happen to get caught in the process for technical reasons.
The policy is also geared towards players that abort games too often. What the site is trying to get people to do is, play the game and resign when losing or play it out. Show good sportsmanship.
Again, getting rid of the policy is unlikely, but maybe something could be done to make the app more robust and not disconnnect as often or force reconnects more easily.

I have set up to get players with max. rating of 1400 and server offers me players with 1532. What can I do other than abort the game?

@Martin_Stahl First and foremost, I do just resign and move on if I am no longer wishing to play. But with that being said, your response lets me kno that u missed what I said. Respectively please follow along: Prior to looking for an opponent, you have told the app wat time limit you wish to play. We will be using me as an example. I select 5 min. THEN THE APP LOOKS FOR SOMEONE. Now assuming I am not flagged for fair play, im paired with someone immediately. BAM THE GAME BEGINS. Regardless of wat happns it will consume 5 min of my life because I agreed to 5 min prior to looking for someone. So explain to me how this policy protects from time wasted???? IT DOESNT IS THE ANSWER.

When you create a custom challenge you define that. I guess you must be on v2.
Why not just play?

so to further bring home my point; why complain about time wasted when u already set aside 5 min to play. just shut up and take your win. the moment u disconnect u have 55 sec to reconnect. the clock is still ticking. so an intentional disconnector is shooting himself in the foot because he shaved his own time. why is this not making sense. The intentional disconnector is already being punished because he loses points. why is bn punished twice. if one keeps disconnecting, they will keep getting punished with pts lost and their low elo rating will be a reflection of this. wat is the problem?? why does anyone complain. the cream rises to the top. my elo rating increases off a win regardless of how its obtained. i will encounter less intentional disconnectors as i move up in rank because the better u r the less childish u r. im willing to bet any intentional disconnector sucks and thats why they do it. Iregardless of why they do it who cares. i get my win. no time is wasted. all this policy does is piss ppl off. i have to wait 5 min for no reason.

@Martin_Stahl look agree to disagree....either u work for the app or u think its a good idea. if i havent convinced u at this point im not going to....ill just bottom line this. how many games do i have to play in a row without disconnecting before i can be removed from the fair policy list

Because a fair player will not make one wait 5 minutes sitting there with nothing to do. The policy is the stick to try and modify behavior.
I completely understand that the time control is there and I could potentially end up playing for the whole time. I also don't want to gain some material and have my opponent stop playing.
The rule isn't mine. However, the rule has been around for a while and it was directly due to people disconnecting and aborting. The site made it and only the site can change it. I've said that I don't believe they will but I could be wrong.
Maybe they could implement a change where it looks at material (or short computer eval) after a disconnect loss and if the game was even or the disconnector was ahead they would not be flagged. Still might catch people with technical problems but less likely.
Server or browser are disconnecting me continuously today. I can't even start a game. And now I am flooded by these Fair Play reminder. Do not abort, etc... It is highly, highly irritating ! Can you please fix the issue.
