I have the latest Java and up until about a month ago I've been playing against the computer just fine.  I had a new video card installed under warranty by Acer (DON'T BUY AN ACER BY THE WAY... they make you mail the entire system to them at your expene for "warranty service")

and now am unable to play ches at all.  Can anyone offer me some assistance with this problem?  Thanks,

Patzer24

I think maybe trying to uninstall java from your system and then downloading/reinstalling it again from www.java.com

Hi,

In my google quest for an answer to why this is happening I've stumbled across this post.

Not sure if you're still having problems but you may find this useful.  Since Java 6 update 10, Java has included a feature called the next generation plug-in.  It's been causing random grief for me for a while now, funnily enough since 1.6_10 which is why I'm google questing to find a reason why.

You may find this fix useful, go to Control Panel->Java->Advanced->Java Plug-In

Untick 'Use next generation plug-in".  Should be automatic gratification.

HTH,

Deon.
