Fair play

This fair play rule is stupid..In playchess.com (from chessbase) if you forefit, your opponent wins and gains rating points...simple. the same applies for power failure, internet connection failure etc...

I disagree.

An essential rule, not a stupid rule;but sometimes difficult to apply fairly, as in certain"unrated player" circumstances which have yet to be solved.

I am truly incredulous that anyone would be so audacious as to openly denounce the Fair Play Policy. What chutzpah! Bochumer and pulledclear, you should be ashamed of yourselves! Now play fairly!

I did not judge you. You denounced the Fair Play Policy, which is precisely what I said you had done. That is not unfair.

There are currently 794,000 Blitz players, 450,000 Standard (live) players and 241,000 standard (turn-based) players here. Somehow I'm pretty sure there isn't going to be a mass exodus just because a few crybabies don't know how to plug a laptop into a wall outlet and/or haven't fathomed the concept of keeping a spare battery on hand.
PS: Did your dog eat the spare battery AND wall outlet after consuming your homework?

You keep yapping about leaving, and yet, here you are!
I'm sure they'll miss that revenue from your free account.

Having to wait 4 minutes in ( blitz) or 25 minutes in (standard) chess because my opponent lost his/her queen and refuses to move or resign,To just let the clock run out = BANNED !! 4 million members like this ! TURN-OFF your challendge button and just use it when you decide to choose your opponent. As far as disconnections are concerned they really need a separate forum for these people, because unfortunately Chess.com 30% of the topics in the main forum are devoted to that subject !
( i will now ban myself for posting on this topic) LOL !!!!!

how long does a banned last? i don,r know about the fair play rules as my son keep on changing opponents he thinks that is much better than him while using my account. be reminded that my son is just 9 years old

Your banning might last longer than most, since you're also violating a rule about more than one person using an account.

Yes, you decide... until you break the rules and abuse others. Then you lose that privilege.

If players know how to restrict open challenges they should not have to abort.

Game Type Settings - These are the ones that select the ratings of those who accept your game. You can choose these from New Game tab, look under the orange start button, click on the Game Type Settings and change from there.
Filter - The filter in your 'Settings' box are there so you can choose which games you want to see in your graph. It has nothing to do with the challenges you yourself create or who can accept them. The filter only changes what you see on the graph.

Configure your game settings ("Game Type Settings" link below the Start Game button) to specify the ratings of someone you're actually willing to play with, and accept that rated games require some exposure to pieces of both colors. If you must play white, simply choose "Unrated: White" on the drop-list:

A huge amount of people come here to play, and a lot of what they are getting is people accepting their challenge only to then abort for no apparent reason.
In Live Chess in your New Game tab, and the Game Type settings, you can set it there as to who can (what ratings the opponents must have) accept your challenges.
This way you decide which games you get so you won't need to abort them.
You will still be able to play games with friends or accept direct challenges.
With each game you play without keeping your opponent waiting, aborting the game or disconnecting from the game, the restriction will lower.
.

"If players know how to restrict open challenges they should not have to abort."
Once "banned" a player should remove all restrictions. They have to play anyone. From GMs to people who do not know how the horse moves.
Once they are able to send open challenges they should set limits as described in post #47
I'm still not sold on penalizing aborts. I get that people abuse it with openings and such but penalizing someone for not playing someone in particular is silly. There are numerous reasons why you wouldn't want to play someone. Maybe you know your opponent is a annoying person, your opponent might go away before he starts, or you want to have a friendly chat with someone who speaks english or etc. Anyway, I think that they should just allow aborts for before a game and anything after move 1 counts as a resign. But hey, whatever works I guess.

this is not an abuse....its freedom..I decide whom I play...I pay for this site...so its not a privilege.
You have your views. I respect them. I have mine .Period.

If players know how to restrict open challenges they should not have to abort.

this is useful..thanks
My laptop battery shut down and you all are punishing me FOR something thatwas not in my control.
You are not restricted just because of one or two games :) or one or two laptop battery failures.
