Is there a command I can type or button click to find out who's currently online on my friends list?  Thought I'd work it out easily but it's got me stumped so far.

If you look at your friends list the most recently active accounts will be on the top and the ones online will have a green or orange square. Green means they were recently and may still be online and orange means they are in Live.

Tried clicking on the friends tab but there's nothing there. It was the one next to game chat, event's and chat, is that the correct one?.  Maybe I don't have any chess.com friends (sobs) but I've accepted and requested some and get notified of people logging on occasionally.

Yeah, you have 7 friends and you can see them in the menu:

Also under Share > Friends ... which goes to https://www.chess.com/home/friends

Many thanks, that screen shot was what I needed and managed to find the friends list, also noticed it's in Home where there's a little friends link.

I was mainly looking while in the Play section and the friends tab there is probably only for searching for friends by a specific name.

Knew I was just being dumb not being able to find it, my excuse is coming from fics where things like that were command line. Chess.com needs more command line options for weirdo's like me happy.png

You're not weird. Well, not the only weirdo. I miss the fics command-line as well. Newer with a web-based GUI isn't always better. grin.png

of course I could always just go back to FICS, but... so much more here. And I enjoy complaining, I guess.

I guess I'm getting old. m'eh.

The friends tab that you were describing is in the live chess interface. That tab shows the friends (and other members you follow) who are currently in the live chess interface.

Thanks for the info, knowing that that should come in handy, shame it only shows friends in live chess but still useful.

@Plux FICS died the death from my experience, got fed up of waiting over 5 mins for games then found chess.com. Almost instant game match ups regardless of time of day, rating or time controls. Happy days indeed.
