Friend Request

Today I received a message (a nice one) from member whom I never met. At about the same time, I received a Chess.com message that my invitation to be friends (with that same person) was accepted.  However, I never sent an invitation to him, or to anyone ever. I un-friended him, which seemed kind of rude, but that's not the issue.  How did this happen; was it a glitch (though it seems not); or some sort of machination on his part?  I really don't want this to happen again.

It is a great initiative to bring more friendship to the world. Did you "meet" your other friends? What is the purpose anyway? Friends or no friends.. I do not see the difference. Anybody can put me in his friends list and it does not mean anything i fear.. Or am i so mistaken?

You are deathly mistaken.

Really vulpes? What does it change? What difference in functionality does it make? What could we do if you were on my friends list that we cannot do if you are not? I have not discovered it.

I think it's a website problem.

Whether you do or don't makes no difference.

1. Easier to find your friends

2. Easier to challenge your friends

3. Easier to message your friends

4. Easier to delete your friends

etc.

No need to be upset. My remark is purely fact based.

I'm not upset.  I'm looking for an administrative explanation, not an opinion nor an evaluation.

Great. It was also a kind of question.

A question in the forum called "Help and Support."

This sounds like your account has been hacked.  You should change your password immediately, use a random mix of alphanumeric characters along with symbols for a strong password.  Also change your contact email and it's password because that may have been compromised too.  I recommend scanning your computer for rootkits and malware, this could be very bad.

What IS the symbol for a strong password?
