That can happen when the page does not fully load. Do you have any plugins that might be blocking scripts?
Quite possible, I've synced firefox and it installed all the plugins from the old Windows installation. I'll disable them one by one to see if any of them make a difference.

Fixed it!
After disabling all the plugins without any luck I just re-installed firefox. I think the syncing installed all kinds of old and possibly conflicting addons so I installed the ones I need manually on a fresh firefox installation and it seems to be working fine now.

You are not even sure that was the reason. Don't create conspiracy theories.

Of course I know that was the reason. It synced addons from an old installation. You never know if all the addons are still working and not interfering with each other. Doing it manually didn't create the same issues so yes, I repeat don't sync the addons in Firefox. Everybody with a bit of computing experience knows importing settings from old installs can create problems. I can't see a conspiracy theory there, do you know what conspiracy theory is? Recommending to not use sync in a computer program doesn't really qualify.

It could just have been a caching issue.
