Game abandoned is driving me crazy
That’s BS, it’s an app on an iPad, no other app I use has issues like this, this app is trash with crappy engineering and worse support.
I googled it and this forum is full of posts like this, going back almost 10 years - instead of fixing it Chess.com would rather spend creating BS support articles that are meaningless in 2024.
Out of all the apps and devices at use in my house, some of which stream 4k and play games in real time, chess.com is the only one with issues like this.
Hello,
I mostly play chess on my iPad and am very to new it all, chess the game itself, this website, binging YouTube videos, buying books, etc. It’s a great game and a lot of fun.
Unfortunately it seems as I soon as I signed up for premium the app started having major connection issues. I’m on a pretty stable, battery backed up internet connection that I use for WFH, I also pretty much am constantly streaming something in the background and notice if/when things go offline, which is rare, I can’t even remember the last time.
Over the last day about I’ve gotten at least 4 game abandoned losses from The chess.com iPad app, on 3 occasions it looked like my opponents clock was just winding down, so I click on their profile and see that they beat me, due to abandoning, while I still have the freakin’ game open!
On one occasion only the game wouldn’t let me play my move but would let me click on the other profile to see I lost by abandoning again.
This is driving me nuts, I’m an iOS engineer and know there are available APIs to tell if the client app can connect to a website, this is a horrible experience.
I take screenshots and send them to contact us as a technical bug, so far I’ve had points restored allegedly (not sure how to see if they were added), and sent more bugs with screenshots today.
Is this really what playing on this app is like? This is BS.
