I paid to become a Gold member but am Still getting pop-ups on my screen & I cannot access any of the benefits.

If you are getting pop up ads when you log in with your gold member account, then it's definitely about the malwares in your computer.

Try either Firefox 4 or the latest version of chrome http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/fx/, download Comodo internet security (free) http://comodo.com/ and Spybot (also free). http://www.safer-networking.org/

install & update them, run a through scan with them, clean your browser's cache and temporary files, and try logging in with your updated or upgraded web browsers.

Puffadder also needs to keep his browser(s) and OS up-to-date on a daily basis. Many of the revisions and upgrades address security issues.

Avira makes an excellent free anti-virus program. It is perfectly complimented with Malwarebytes anti-malware program for on-demand scans with Avira running all the time.
