I tried both IE and Fire fox. I have this problem. Loosing secons each time. Very frustrating. It's vista O.S.

OK, i logged in today (with FireFox) and played two games without incident.  Then in the next two games the discon/recon problem reared its ugly head.  The next game I just aborted after losing 40 seconds on move two. So... I downloaded Google Chrome and played one game. I disconnected/reconnected 4 times during that game.  The problem doesn't seem to be FireFox, or, at least,  not limited to FireFox.  But, I'll reiterate that it started happening somewhat suddenly. For months everything was good, then the connection problems just started.  

I've noticed the same problem. I updated firefox but did not attribute the disconnects to that. Maybe you are correct. I'll try Chrome or IE

BTW batgirl I'd like to take the time to tell you how much I have enjoyed your writings on the history of chess and the players.

Thanks kyska,  I don't think Chrome or IE will help. Something's rotten in Denmark and it isn't the Danish Gambit. 

yep - we've had a large increase in server traffic of late and we're trying to get a handle on it! hope to have some things tweaked by friday...

I don't play a lot of live chess but have had multiple disconnects this morning, and in the past few days. Occasionally I'll only get one or two, but sometimes four or five.

And, yes, it's the latest version of Firefox.

I guess I could switch to Safari and see if it's better.

shouldn't be browser dependent. you should be able to play on IE7 with a 10yr old computer. we're getting closer!
