hey, do moderators answer our questions here?

If a moderator answers, I’ll know the answer is yes. If a moderator doesn’t, I’ll know that the answer is no.

Occasionally they will surprise you. They like to keep you guessing.

You make the kind of posts that few people will answer because they require lengthy answers and have been asked and answered many times previously. (Try the search function- the magnifying glass.)

Hi! Moderators and staff can answer questions just about anywhere. I can help!  You can send me a private message or let me know!

Hi Brenda! Nice to see a moderator in the forum. I can see from your profile that you are not new but I don't think you have posted a lot in the forums. Will you be doing that on a daily basis going forward?

You suggested that sending you a private message is a good way to get you. Do you want everyone to send you private messages for Help and Support questions? I thought that the Contact form on the Help page was preferred.  https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new

I always wonder how many members of chess.com staff are assigned to monitor the forums as part of their job responsibilities.

I know there are an awful lot of posts. It seems to me that mod posts are usually limited to enforcing bad language violations or accusations.  Occasionally, Erik will pop in to answer complaints or evaluate suggestions.  Many others pop in from time to time.

I get the impression that nobody has the job of responding on a daily or more frequent basis. Is that right?

You have to play a number of daily games to completion before you can play in a tournament. I think the number is 5. You have played zero.

Hey! I've been working with our support staff since 2016. You're right, I haven't been posting or answering questions on a daily basis but I'll be sure to check these forums more often! I can't promise that I'll be here every single day and answer every question, but I'll definitely set myself reminders! Now, Private messages have always been welcomed. It's everyone's personal preference on how they for help. Some prefer private messaging while others prefer forums.  I personally think forums are a great way to ask questions because others may have the same concern/curiosity and therefore everyone can get some help all at once! However, that's only if your question doesn't requireimmediatee attention. Read below:

Yes, this link: https://support.chess.com/customer/portal/emails/new is the best way to reach support! Most definitely a much quicker way to get results. But again, I'll work on moderating these forums more often!

We all have the responsibility of answering questions on a daily basis. We may not respond right away, but you'll get your question answered regardless! I assure you if you send in a ticket via our support link we will get your question answered within 24 hours, on most occasions much faster than that!

Going forward though, if you need immediate attention, our support link is the best way!

I'm a moderator (blue pawn); Brenda is staff (green pawn -who can also moderate)

Many, maybe most, of the questions presented here are either technical or oriented towards staff - i.e. unable to be answered by us mere moderators.  As Brenda noted, staff can be messaged or one can submit a ticket to Support.  Everything submitted does get looked at.

Maffia (Maffie or Mafie in Czech) was a secret organization acting during World War I. It was founded after emigration of Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk in 1914 by Czech politician Edvard Beneš, who later became second president of Czechoslovakia, and others main anti-royalist (Karel Kramář, Alois Rašín, Josef Scheiner and Přemysl Šámal). Maffia was based on the principles of Sicilian Mafia (name "Maffia"), it was central part of the First Czechoslovak Resistance and its main objective was to overthrow the Emperor of Austria and the disintegration of his country. Maffia plot against Austria-Hungary and Central Powers was revealed by police in 1915, some members of Maffia (Karel Kramář, Alois Rašín, Vincent Červinka and Josef Zamazal) were arrested and sentenced to death (they were later amnestied by emperor Charles I.) and Edvard Beneš escaped from Austria-Hungary to Switzerland, but subversive activities of Maffia continued, under the leadership of Přemysl Šámal, until the end of the First World War. Maffia had over 200 members and it was supported from aboard (US, Italy etc.).
