How do I review and annotate my game?

Hi, after finishing a game, I go to my name, click game archive, then click analyze and an empty game tab opens with nothing in it. I watch youtubers reviewing their games, playing variations, etc., and it all looks so easy. But I can't figure out how to do it here.

Well, clicking analyze should open a tab with your game in it.  Maybe your connection?

You need some software such as Scid vs. PC where you can store and notate your games.

@King_undercover_vamp: in further experimentation, I can get a previously played game to open up in Analysis, but if I try playing different moves it doesn't insert a variation, it just overwrites the game.

@kleelof: I installed Arena, but it's going to take me some time to learn, also I watch a ton of youtubers and fins, for example, seems to analyze his games after the fact without difficulty. Maybe because it is ICC?

Thank you both for suggestions.

Maybe.

I used to play on ICC years ago. There are several different GUI's for it. It is possible there are GUI's that can play on ICC and work like Arena and SvPC.

That's strange.  It works for me.  Here's how I do it:

First, I go to live chess and open it up from the archive:

Then, it brings up the analysis board:

Then, when I enter a move, it makes the move the main line, while the game a variation:

So, it works for me...

If that doesn't work still, try opening an analysis board(the drop down menu has the option "analysis") and copy and paste that into the analysis board.  Should be editable.

If all else fails, a program like Chessbase should help(though it costs money).

Is this a Diamond Member feature? Because when I go to live games, I do not have an Archive tab.

@King_Undercover_Vamp: Thank you very much for the detailed instructions and screenshots. I tried it at first in Chrome and it failed to work, as it always has. But your explanation was very convincing, so I tried it again using Internet Explorer and it works perfectly!
