How to disable help

Hello. I have been trying to play some of the AI, but, about halfway through a game, I am no longer able to move my pieces where I want them to go. I try to move my pieces in perfectly legal ways, however it will not let me, when I drag my pieces to my desired place, they go back to their original position. The game will only let me move where IT wants me to go, like it is trying to help me, but I don’t want any help, I just want to play the game my way. Due to this so called ‘help’ I have been checkmated every single time. Is there any way to prevent this? Chess isn’t fun when you are forced into moving where you don’t want to go.

Also, I picked the 3 Star version of the AI that explicitly says ‘no help’.

Hmm. Usually when it does that, you are trying to make an illegal move.  For example, if you are in check, you can't make any move that doesn't get you out of check.

Wow thank you for replying, I wasn’t sure anyone would!

I am pretty sure my moves were legal. Just a few minutes ago I tried to play against the AI again, and it wouldn’t let me move a random pawn forward, this one fault caused my demise… Seriously, is moving a pawn forward legal? I always thought it was.

Sorry I can’t post any pictures or anything, there doesn’t seem to be an option.
