How to Put Multiple Quotes in One Post?

Sort:
exceptionalfork

I've been wondering how to do this for a while... for example:

How do people quote multiple different posts and have them separated like that?

JkCheeseChess

I've tried multiple times too. I know how to do it but it never works. I've asked certain people and they are able to do it but not others.

Funny enough, the people I have asked are usually staff or titled players or some sort of higher-ranking role on cc. Maybe it has to do with that

JkCheeseChess

The way to do it is to quote someone, copy the quote, quote another person, and then paste the original quote. But when I do it the formatting is broken

Try this:

  1. Quote one post.
  2. Add two empty lines OUTSIDE the quote (below it).
  3. Copy it all (including the empty lines) and then delete it all.
  4. Quote the other post. Paste the first quote below it.
  5. Remove the empty lines.

It's indeed very easy to do so!

No, everyone can do it in fact.

Yes, it's that's the correct way, but, that way you can only quote two comments. To quote multiple comments, use a new comment box.

As @blueemu says above, do it with the smart use of the blank lines, but, now try it by opening the same forum in two tabs. One is to copy the desired comment and one is to paste it in a newly opened comment box.

So, now, follow the below method once you open two tabs for the same forum...

Open the first tab and quote the comment which you want to answer. Then, copy it with the Ctrl+A. Then, go to the second tab, and paste it on the blank line by Ctrl+V. Then, write your answer/reply to that comment.

Again, go to the first tab, again quote the next comment which you want to answer, and follow the same method I mentioned above.

Do the same exercise for every quote. And, you'll get great results!

Yes, working smartly with blank lines is very important. It works fine for me too.

JkCheeseChess wrote:

Yes, images cannot be copied. As you said, first download them and use the Insert Image button. But, the text works with copy/paste.

Rodgy wrote:

Yes, using Ctrl+A, Ctrl+c and Ctrl+V makes it easy.

JkCheeseChess wrote:

Again, I'd say that using a blank line is very important here. That's the key.

JkCheeseChess wrote:

No, it's not an issue of a computer or account. But, again, the blank line below the quoted comment is playing a very important role in getting this result.

Rasmir wrote:

Yes, we're working with text, as @Rasmir said.

Good luck, @exceptionalfork and @JkCheeseChess.
