image manager

I'm trying to put together my first blog post on chess.com, and I'd like to be able to use images that are hosted here on chess.com instead of somewhere else that I reference with a URL (as I've been doing up to now with images in forum posts).

No success.  So first, is hosting images on chess.com restricted to premium accounts?  I didn't find that written anywhere, but it occurred to me that might be a possibility.

If that's not the case, are the instructions for image manager that Kohai wrote on his blog page still current?  When I try to insert an image into my blog post and click on the image manager button, I get a message saying that page doesn't exist on chess.com.  I never get to a point where it asks for the image URL or offers to let me browse to a file on my hard drive.  Is image manager still a functional feature?

Last, if I put images into a chess.com photo album, do they have individual URLs that I can reference for inserting the same images into a blog or forum post?  That would be a simple work-around if image manager is kaput.

Are you hitting this known error: google-chrome-refusing-to-insert-pictures?

If so, try IE7.

Yep, I'm using Chrome, thanks artfizz.  I'm past IE7, but I'll see what IE8 can do.

Someone needs to collect all of the current info for posting procedures and tips into one place that's easily accessible from the help or FAQ lists.  I really spent quite a lot of time searching and trying to think of keywords that would track down relevant info, and I still never found that post you linked.  Info on posting is dribbled around in forum posts, blog posts, old help files, etc., and none of them appear to be current or complete.

Actually, quite a few sections of the help files could use some improvement in the areas of organization and content. I think some actual categorized help articles would be a lot more use to some than only presenting info in an FAQ format.   If you folks need some volunteers, Erik, I could put some time into that.

Here are some tips on searching.

For instance, the Google search    "missing page" site:www.chess.com   brings up the thread google-chrome-refusing-to-insert-pictures as the first item in its search results. (It's easier to find something if you know where it is!)

Thanks, I'll look through your tips in more detail.  I don't know if I would have stumbled across your Chrome alert page eventually or not, as I was searching for upload advice, not the missing page problem.  I always try to convince my Mom that when it comes to learning a software procedure it's more efficient in the long run to read from the bottom up how to do something and learn it fully rather than to chase errors and look up each step one-by-one as they're encountered, but in this case, her top-down approach probably would have worked faster. Cool

Anyway, IE8 worked OK and I got the image posted.

When you get an explicit error message or error code, running a Google search for it generally delivers the best results. The forum search on chess.com, OTOH, is generally less effective.
