Insufficient Material

My game was just drawn for insufficient material and I don't understand why.  I had a King left and he had 2 Queens, King, and a pawn.  The timer was fast running out for him.  I thought I won but I ended up losing points because I was higher rated.  Can someone tell me what's going on?  

Perhaps you were in stalemate but didn't realize it?

To win on time you need to be capable to deliver checkmate, so you need at least pawn (to promote). In theory it is not possible to checkmate with one light piece (bishop-bishop, bishop-knight setup check yourself).
