A problem with the latest version are making it close to unusable at certain times:

Castling - when the last move is your opponent castling it moves the king an extra square over.

I've noticed a few problems also

  • Sometimes after making a move and it automatically moving to the next game it does not show your opponents last move.  I often have to close and restart the app to be able to make a move when this occurs.
  • In one game I was unable to move a pawn two spaces.
  • Upon making a move in the last game where I need to make a move it often freezes and then crashes.

I love the new interface however.

Yes, I'll agree with all that too now I've used it some more. But at least the castling problem happens 100% of the time so should be easily recreated.

Yep I'm getting both problems with the opponent's last move too. It really is hard to make a good move when one of your opponents' pieces is invisable! I've already thrown two games before i spotted the bug! I do like that the submit move button doesn't cover the board, not that I can safely use it though.

Yes - I have had to stop using it, very frustrating.

No one should upgrade to the latest version until this is fixed.

I've reported it to chess.com support and they say they've submitted a fix to apple. So I guess now we just have to wait.

Looks like the fix is there to download now - version 1.31.... downloading as I type this :-)

Now I can't see any of my new games on my IPod! They're all chess 960 so it might be somthing to do with that. I've contacted support again.
