iPhone app gets stuck

My son uses an iPhone app while I use Internet Explorer on a computer. Every so often, his app refuses to show my latest move. It tells him that it's my move. This goes on until the 3-day timeout expires. We can't find a way to force an update when this happens. We're about to give up on Chess.com because of it. Any ideas?
