TLDR: Me and this guy play chess against each other, in our first games he plays as his rating would suggest, but then when it comes down to competitive chess between us with stakes and he's being watched by other people in our friend group, he suddenly becomes amazing??

So this has happened twice, where the first game I play against he plays like his rating would suggest. The first time I played against he made careless blunders and I beat him easily. (This was on an offbeat chess site and I forgot to record evidence)
The second time this happened was this "warm-up" game he wanted to play against me and as expected he played as expected. [removed]
I resign from that game in a winning position as I had to go do something. But keep in mind his elo is around 500 - 700, and at this point, he even said he hadn't played chess in about 3 months.
Yet when it was time for our competitive games he plays like this: (and before the game started he claimed last minute he had to go answer a "phone call" it apparently was a short call cause it only lasted 2 minutes)
1st Game

2nd Game

And if you analyze his other games, you'll notice he doesn't play at this level, it only seems to happen when he plays with me.
What do you guys think though?
