The following should enable scripting in Internet Explorer:

Note: To allow scripting on this Web site only, and to leave scripting disabled in the Internet zone, add this Web site to the Trusted sites zone.

1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the Security tab.
2. Click the Internet zone.
3. Click Custom Level.
4. In the Security Settings – Internet Zone dialog box, click Enable for Active Scripting in the Scripting section.
5. Click the Back button to return to the previous page, and then click the Refresh button to run scripts.

On the box that appears on your screen, not the browser itself

Sorry, my mistake.

It is the browser you're refreshing. I have mine open and can see where it says 'Takes effect after you restart Internet Explorer'.

What problems are you having on the site using IE 8 ?  and are you experiencing the same issues if you try from a different browser?

When you next go into computer chess, look on the bottom right corner of your monitor. Can you click on the java icon then Open Control Panel.

Once this is open, use the bottom box where it says 'Settings'  - when that new box opens, click where it says 'delete files'.
Then OK

Once you've done this, refresh the page.

Sometimes the java icon is turned off from appearing in the tray.  If you're running windows....

start button/control panel/java/advanced/miscellaneous/check box "Place icon in system tray"

Also try clearing your cache, and even your java cache. see: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml

if that doesn't work, click on the board and then type in "version" and tell me what numbers come up. :)

Did you enable JavaScript?

Do you have the latest Flash installed?

Did you try another browser to see if it works there?

What was downloaded between when it worked, and now it doesn't?
