I thought I was joining a live game forum. I am not wanting games where the moves take 3 days. I really want to play a game in 30 minutes or so. Where can I find this on the web and how do I exit this location?

You should try FICS (free internet chess society). The speed of game varies there from 1-2 minutes to 30 minutes. To play there you have to download an  archived programme, register) It's not so interesting there, no feeling of community; I personally feel isolated there. Maybe it will pass, still I can play there fast chess. Try it.

There is another server in Russia - www.livegames.ru- It's quite nice for those who like fast chess.

you just don't know the beauty of turn-based chess!

And you cannot exit this location, as you say it, were some kind of sect you see?... or you can just close your browser...

gameknot.com provides "Blitz" chess, in which you play live and each player has a time bank of 10 minutes to complete the game.

I favor turn-based chess because I often don't have 30 minutes to devote to a game. Rarely does anyone take more than a few hours to make a move even in 3 day mode. Blitz chess and the conventional game are two different animals using different skill sets. If I want blitz, I can play Crafty or Chess Partner. And what kind of chess player resigns because someone isn't moving fast enough? They should stick to Xbox360 and leave the "game of kings" to the adults.

In my opinion Yahoo! Games is the PERFECT place to find people advertising porn webcam sites, find opponents who cheat and are rude, and use the worst possible online chess interface. :)
Trickster

Yup your right. I don't like Yahoo games a lot either.

Of all the chess sites I have visited, chess.com is by far the best.  Therefore, it is safe to assume that the real time chess coming soon will be superb.  Hang in there for two weeks and stay here.

what ever site you go onto you have to make sure that you don't get creaps onto it because you have to be careful when playing online. that's one of the reasons why i'll stick with this site.

I have shopped around and I agree with Chode. You're not going to find the perfect online site. I would hold out for two weeks and see what this site has to offer. I went through this when I was trying to find a good guitar player's on line group. I finally found one that didn't have everything on my wish list but kept improving on a weekly basis and now has even more than I could want. Stick it out and I'm sure you'll be pleasantly suprized!

this site is awesome for my needs, which are to play friends at different work sites while still getting work done, and making my moves in my spare time.

About Yahoo if your going to play live games there go to Yahoo U.K Ireland the  players behavior on there is a 100% better than on the U.S. server and the regulars on there play fair.

And it's not just the chess play.  Where else do you get hundreds of chess articles, hundreds of chesspedia entries, lots of people blogging, annotated games, thousands of games to download, chess art, chess merchandise (I have two www.chess.com shirts - cool), chess news, history, trivia, humor, good forums and good people.  I have played over a hundred games here and have not met one person who has been bad, nasty, obnoxious, or troublesome.  I was the first moderator at the chess site at the Microsoft gaming zone (even before Microsoft bought it) and I was spending more time kicking people off or banning them than playing.  I think only a few have been banned here for cheating, and that's not bad for a site of close to 15,000 people.  And soon, you will have your "live" chess and find out who the real masters are.
