I think if you simply avoid playing them there should be no issue with multiple family members connecting from the same machine or internet connection.  Besides, if you want to play others in your household you need a chess board, not a chess.com account.

the issue that I had, though it's no longer relevant is that my dad and I lived across the country from one another and this was a good way for us to keep in touch as we played a game of chess.

don't particularly wanna state the obvious, rednblack, but has u tried usin'  a 'phone ? or try Skype - I seems to be able to stay in touch with people on different continents with precious little trouble - thought you youngsters were the ones s'posed to be runnin' the whole communication revolution - buy daddy an ipod or whatever they call the latest gadget Smile

You can also change your ip though the computer's terminal/cmd so it dosen't reconize you. It might be MAC (not as in macintosh) address I don't know Undecided but you can shearch that up on youtube.
