Yes, this player account is really closed. You just have to wait until his/her clock expires to claim a win on time, unless you have the auto-win on time checked in your online chess setting.
opponent has closed account
Curiously, I don't see anything like this in the FAQs; account closed while on vacation... Given the bizarre circumstances, maybe you could ask staff to end the games. But if the tournament is still in it's "infancy", maybe just wait 'til it ran out naturally of time.
Members have 1 month of vacations available. "Gold" members have 2 months while "platinum/diamond" have 3. Since your opponent had a diamond membership, it should still be some time before it happens.
But the question is if vacation effect are cancelled should the account be closed? I don't have the slightest idea...
Anyhow, good luck with that situation...

Hi Chess.com,
I'm playing a game ( http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=44025127 ) and apparently my opponent's account is closed. It's weird however, because his/her on-line chess information is still viewable, but when you try to see their whole profile you get the chess.com account closed message. So:
Is the account really closed?
If so, how is our game terminated? I don't care personnally, win/lose/draw/abort, but it's part of a tornament so some of them might have an interest.
