Opponent's Rating Settings

After I set a rating range for "Challenges From" and "Opponent's Rating" in settings, I still get challenged from people with ratings lower than the ranges I set.

Does Chess.com no longer allow players to restrict challanger ratings? If so, why do they still have the rating ranges in "Settings?"

By the way, I am getting ten times move aborted games since chess.com V3 was released. Are other people noticing this?

IT IS A WASTE OF TIME TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH SO MANY ABORTED GAMES.

Is this a way for chess.com to have us spend/waste more time on their site so they can charge more for advertisements???

Can someone suggest a site that allows players to define the rating range of their opponents?

I set the range to + 100 and -100 and I never have a problem. I rarely have an aborted game.

If you do, it is probably because you have a less than optimal connection.

It looks like you play a lot more bullet than blitz. I play no bullet games. Perhaps there are more problems in bullet.

Thanks I will try +100 and -100. I've been setting acutal rating ranges. Maybe that's the problem. We'll see soon enough!

Well I get the same results after changing the settings. Lost of aborts.

Not sure why chess.com would want to pisss off their customers.

There have been some Live issues today, so that may be why you are seeing so many aborts,  though,  it is possible you are having isolated connection issues. There isn't some intentional process going on.

That said, the Challenges From setting only controls who can directly challenge you. It has nothing to do with challenges you create.  That is controlled when you issue the challenge and is changed by the +/- drop-downs in that dialog.

@Martin_Stahl

Thanks for the clarification. When I choose CREATE CHALLENGE the only rating option I have is to turn on or turn off the -200   +200 button. Maybe I doing something wrong?

Are you an administrator? I'm trying to find out if I can set custom ratings when I create a challenge like I was able to do with the old chess.com.

Also, do you have any Idea what SEEK GRAPH SETTINGS is? Is it the range of ratings you will see when you look at the OPEN CHALLENGES graph?

Martin_Stahl

I just found this out yesterday (or refound it maybe) but if you click on the value you can select a number of options/ranges. Not as customizable as a free-form field.

The seek graph options just limits the rating ranges and opponent types you see on the graph.
