I have had this happen several times where my opponents time is swapped for my time. Can anyone explain this?

The times changed after I had been waiting for 20 minutes for my opponent to make a move. They then won the game as I ran out of time, this can't be right.

Premoves allow players to play very quickly. I assume this was the game:

You can review the time spent on each move if you look at the game in the archive. Here are the final 5 moves:

It looks like you almost had him on move 49. He had to spend 2.3 seconds trying to figure out what to do and finally made a random king move. Unfortunately, you were still trying to win normally, so you spent all your remaining time (0.5 seconds) on your 51st move and lost on time.

You could have drawn by playing 50 Rxd4, since he can't win with just a bishop (and if you ran out of time, it would be declared a draw for that reason- insufficient material).
