Yay!! That's so cool. I love the new vs. computer its so much better. The old one used to make me so frustrated no matter what setting it was on easy or hard.
It's still doing it but hopefully it will be fixed soon. 
Its June and its still doin it to me......think the comp just gets pissed when you back it into a corner and so it opts out of the game...

Justin, that sounds like an en passant capture to me
It's making me mad too. I just emailed support and still no fix. Playing against the computer sucks. Just when you are about to win, the computer starts thinking and freezes. This happens to me alot. When the computer knows its about to loose, it will freeze. And the skill levels seems to be the same, no matter if I have it on easy or hard, it plays the same. I rate this a 1 out of 10. I am not even playing this anymore. I go and play Chessmaster if I want to play a FULL game of chess.

I just played the computer five times. In both games that I had the computer down in pieces and on the run I got "computer thinking..." before I could win. In the three games that I lost the computer didn't need to think at all.
The computer gets stuck after 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 Nc6, with me playing black at the medium level.
I don't usually like to complain about things like this but the new "Play Against The Computer" feature seems to me (so far) an inferior product. In many of my games, I have been experiencing the same "computer thinking/freezing" problem that others have experienced and this results in a frustrating experience. Given Chess.com's high level of quality in all of its other features I'm surprised that this has been allowed to continue.
From a marketing standpoint alone I would think this needs resolving. This does not make for a pleasant first time experience for anyone newly visiting this site and could possibly lead them to seek out other options.
For what it's worth, my first exposure to this site a couple of years ago was by doing a web search for computer chess. The search led me to this site and I played against the computer exclusively for the first few months I was here. If my first experience with this site had been the bugs currently found with this new product, I probably would have moved on to the next hit in the search and would never have gotten to experience the other fine features that make this site so great. Fortunately for me, my initial experiences were better.
I do like what this feature tries to be, but it's not there yet.
Yes, I haven't been able to get to checkmate because the computer constantly freezes.
I was on my way to winning against the Hard setting until it started to think. It basically makes it unplayable.

Here is one that just happened to me, 8 moves in. Its been a serious problem for me, only once was I able to checkmate the computer. Every.other.time. it does this and I've tried to play a game numerous times.

I am member for 9 days, but I cannot play against computer because I have the same problem as people write: on 36th move computer simulates "thinking" atitude forever. I complained many times to chess.com, but they ignore all my messages.
I think that they ignore all new members just after members have paid membership. This is like crook behavior.
The computer will get stuck or frozen when its says under the board "Computer Thinking . . ." its happened a couple of times to me already. I'm just hoping posted it on here will get someone from the site to check it out.
