are you saying that we should leave the chat open ?
Plz add option not to play against people who disable chat
Hi, why there is an automatic "disable chat" option, but there is no "automatic abort if come across very rude persons who automatically disable chat"? I find such people don't have manners, and I don't particularly like playing against them. I can understand arguments for not discriminating against them, but why do you discriminate against people who find such a behaviour repulsive?
Oh God, here we go again. If someone automatically disables chat you know absolutely nothing about their manners. This is nothing but an assumption on your part, and not a very good one at that. There are myriad reasons why someone disables chat that have absolutely nothing to do with their manners. In fact, it is you who are guilty of bad manners by insisting that others chat with you. That is truly repulsive behavior, sir.
As always, your friend,

Hey, Dragon, you are wrong, and I was not aware you were my friend. I don't insist that others chat with me. And I do understand that they could have reasons for disabling chat, as I said in my original post. I only want to have an option not to play with such people. Is that too much to ask?
I would probably use the auto "disable chat" if I was using live chess 3-5 min game so I can focus on the game rather than chatting or be distracted by the chatting.
I feel strongly opposed to your post. The reasons being:
1) Accepting a chess challenge has never been an open invitation to start a conversation with someone. It is silly to think that they are one in the same. In fact, from what I know, conversing is discouraged in official live chess matches.
2) It's (again, from my experience) common knowledge not to share personal info with someone online since you don't know what kind of bad person you could be talking to. Some people's first questions to me are "what is your name? where do you live?" My best response is 'Disable Chat'.
3) Lastly, there are very rude people on chat. I've lost to people and received insults. But I've also won against people and received lots of insults. The only solution to that is the beautiful 'Disable Chat' button.
I just read your request. I actually think its some-what logical. You post title is very misleading. Either you're unsure of what your point truly is or you seriously need to change your title to "Add an auto-" whatever button..... otherwise, prepare for people to lash out against you.....
The only way I know if people have bad manners is if they say rude things in chat.
+1

had the same feeling too...
to the OP you can change the the title of your thread by going to the bottom of your homepage and click on "Manage all Content" and put it in the "Site suggestion and feedback" thread.

That friend thing was sarcasm. You are aware of sarcasm, are you not, sir?
As always, your (cough) friend,

I first signed on to this site several years ago but I've only been playing livechess here for a couple of weeks. I've had people make VERY unfriendly remarks after losing to me. This can spoil an otherwise pleasant day for me- I take these things too seriously, probably. While I still leave my chat on when playing live I can understand why others might not want to. I'm a pretty affable guy but I come here to play chess- not to make friends. A few more bad experiences and I'll be playing with my chat off too- it's not that I'm rude- I simply don't want to put up with the rudeness of others.
I must also disagree with you Master, people have the right to play without chatting. We're here primarily to play chess. If I find chat distracting, or, if I am just not in a chatterbox kind of mood, that button is my friend. If it offends you that I don't feel like chatting, don't take it personally, I don't even know you. If you choose not to play with anyone who doesn't want to talk, make note of my screenname and block me after the game.
Its a good idea, mike2aces, thanks! I might just do that to anyone who automatically disable chat. May I suggest to anyone to do the same if anyone says something rude to them. However, the bottom line is people have an option to automatically disable chat, but there is no option to avoid playing with such people, and that would be good to remedy
Would be fun if that was also possible with otb. I refuse to play with you except if you chat with me during the game

.
also Master, you may need to look at yourself and ask why are you being easily offended when someone automatically disable chat.
The bottom line is commonsense.
I agree with the original proposal and would like to see this implemented.
Please also implement an "automatic abort if come across persons who automatically abort if come across very rude persons who automatically disable chat".
Please also implement an "automatic abort if come across persons who automatically abort if come across very rude persons who automatically disable chat".
I second this suggestion. I would also like an option to automatically hide all forum posts from anyone who has enabled their automatically abort if matched with persons who automatically disable chat option.
