Joseph-S was having the same problem. I wonder if he ever sorted it?

When, and if, I find anything out, I will post the results here in this forum.  Appreciate everyone's help and friendliness.

OMG!  I thought that I had the latest version of Mozilla Firefox, but it actually was version 3.2.xx.  Apparently, chess.com is only allowing code from the latest browsers to flow through.  So, anything earlier than Microsoft IE8 and Mozilla Firefox 3.6.xx won't work.  Not sure about Google Chrome or Apple Safari.

Anyway, I've been using IE7, as all my PC's are Pentium 4's (single-core).  Unless you have a dual-core CPU, IE8 will bring your PC to a grinding halt, no matter how much DDR2 RAM you have on-board.  And, since I have a wife & kids, I tend to stick with Microsoft stuff, or else I am on constant Tech Support alert.

So, the problem, at least with me, appears to be browser-related.  So, I've upgraded to the latest version of Mozilla Firefox.  Check it out...

Hope this helps, Joseph_S

Hi Artfizz.  As you can see, I still can't post a video with IE 8.

As soon as this subject came up again, I also went looking for the earlier thread on it.  I thought maybe I was over-looking it.  But now I see you couldn't find it either.

If or when I quit procrastinating and install Chrome, it'll be interesting to see if I'll be able to post a video.  I also only get 14 of the options in the bar above the posting box.  The staff tried helping on that too, but to no avail.

Joseph-S

  Alright Jim!  You did it!

Joseph-S

I'd be interested in hearing any comparisons between FireFox and Chrome if anybody has tried them both.

Joseph-S,

we have a laptop in the house that no one likes to use, because it's an older 17" wide-screen.  Anyway, this is the PC that I was using Mozilla Firefox on.  Once I updated it to the latest version (3.6.13), I am now able to post videos in ANY forum, no matter whether I'm an Admin or not.

I actually copied & pasted your code, but was unable to get it to complete.  I was able to get the placeholder in Edit mode, but upon hitting Submit the final time, it bombed.  I did notice that during the Edit process, there was code for HTTPS.  Is it possible that the site here doesn't like the privacy-enabled viewing code from youtube?

I don't know.  I just checked it because of this in Artfizz's earlier post.

  •  Include related videos
  •  Enable privacy-enhanced mode [?]
  •  Use HTTPS [?]
  •  Use old embed code [?]

It works fine for me (with just the last of these 4 ticked).

I don't remember seeing those options before.

That earlier thread how do you post a youtube video on a message or a forum? disappeared at the same time as its creator kobe-bryant.

It is very interesting how you are able to dig up a thread that has been deleted!
