Anyone have any thoughts on this? I once laughed at a comment that someone made say how accessible everyones information was. Apparently it is.
Privacy and google searches

The basic profile information is searchable. e.g. to discover who has something about "Quick" in their profile...
Google for quick site:www.chess.com/members/view
To discover what has been said in the forums about "Quick", ...
Google for quick site:www.chess.com/forum
In general, any area of the site where the information is stored as HTML is searchable by Google.

Probably not - and certainly not in terms of controls that members have access to. Why would you want to? There are significant advantages in having the Forums, in particular, searchable by Google. First, it supplements the weak Forum Search capability. Secondly, it raises chess.com's public profile. If you do a general google search for quick ending chess, for instance, the 8th link in the list takes you into chess.com. I would imagine many new members have found the site as a result of a google search for some chess-related term.

The other thing to consider is how much information is truly available about you through those searches? Only what is on your profile. No one can get your credit card number for example, unless you put that in your "About Me" section, which, I would STRONGLY urge against :-) Really, they can find that you play chess, and maybe some of the things you've said about chess. I noticed in your case amac7079, you don't even have your full name on your profile (which is fine), so, that information isn't even available. The only things that are searchable, are the things that are included on your public profile, which really isn't all that much.
Why can I find out chess.com member information by doing google searches(it may work with other searches too)? How do we limit access?
