Problems loading and errors

I was on my laptop this afternoon and the site was running just fine.

I come back home and log in with my phone. The site had slowed down to a crawl and I kept getting some error message saying

502 Bad Gateway

nginx

Now here was me thinking "its Friday evening my mobile network is probably busy" so I finish my dinner and log into the site on my laptop.

EVERY OTHER PAGE I click on I get

502 Bad Gateway

nginx

What is going on???

I got that just a few minutes ago from a forum I was posting.  I just hit the back up button and went back to that page and it posted.  Don't know what all that means, but I hope they get it fixed soon.....

Terry I been having that every other page and its annoying the head off me

hi Dona I have the same problem here..

It could be there are extra members connected through to chess.com's servers due to Magnum Carslberg being around.

Same here....  But I finally get done what needs to be done, and it seems to be for this site only as I checked all my other sites and things are fine there.  It's either our server or a proxy sever gone bad or being overload...  But it has slowed down to a crawl and it is a hassle as you have said.....  Hope they get it fixed soon....

Yeah a friend of mine said he can't even make a move in his games because of the site being so slow

Avatar of knightspawn5

That could be, the best chess player in the world taking on the whole world would certainly overload the severs if they are trying to connect all of them together for this match that we will be part of..... There have got to be other sites that need connecting to our servers and that makes for a slow system....

Avatar of blackfirestorm

But why are they all connecting through chess.com? Surely they realised it would have an effect?

Avatar of knightspawn5

It could be the other way around Donna, we are trying to connect to their server and its causing problem with a backlash.  It will be a common connection that the whole world is hooking into and they just dont have enough servers yet to handle billions of people from around the world on line yet.....

Ahh right ...

I had it just before posting my blog, and was well frustrated. So glad I was able to hit back, and quickly copy the work that I'd spent an age on due to me being asleep xD

Same here..

I got that too about 30 minutes ago or so.

Hope it's fixed soon..........

Now the game is over, Magnus won as usual, and everything is back to normal.

Now we can continue with our own chessgame;)

Donna, It could also be that all our site servers as well as all other site servers who will be part of this is sharing free space for this match as well to accommodate the whole world which would with the influx of people cause the errors.  I don't think they have enough servers that could accommodate just this one person.  I think we all are sharing all the servers from each site and doing a loop to get everyone online.   But thats just my opinion but it seems logical.  I know if they have servers set up at just his location, they cant handle the whole world getting on them either.

I have to admit that I haven't had the error page for a while now .....

That is probably what the problem was

Avatar of igor

sorry about those errors. we were slammed by all the people tracking magnus vs the world even, which we helped hosting.
